While you are away
Storage while travelling
Give up the tenancy, put the flat in a container, and stop paying London rent on a room you are not sleeping in. It will be exactly as you left it when you get back.

Why people come to us
The usual reasons.
A few months away
A season of travelling, a contract abroad, or a sabbatical. Rent on an empty London flat costs several times what a container does, and the sums rarely favour keeping the tenancy.
Working abroad
A posting with an uncertain end date. Month-to-month storage means you are not committing to a year you might not need, and you are not shipping furniture you will want when you come home.
Between tenancies
Leaving one flat in July and starting another in September is a common London problem. A container covers the gap without storing everything in a friend’s spare room.
Which size
What you will probably need.
10ft container
A one or two bedroom flat
£160 a month
plus 20% VAT — £192 a month
What most people travelling need — a flat’s furniture and belongings.
20ft container
A house, or a flat plus a car
£280 a month
plus 20% VAT — £336 a month
A 20ft takes most cars as well, which suits a longer trip.
Worth knowing
What we would tell a friend.
Set up a Direct Debit before you go
The one thing that goes wrong on long trips is a missed invoice while you are somewhere with no signal.
Leave an emergency contact with us
Someone in the country who can be reached, and who you are happy for us to speak to.
Nothing perishable, nothing living
Empty the fridge boxes, check the cupboards. Food is the one thing that will not wait for you.
Wrap electronics properly
Original boxes if you kept them, bubble wrap if not, and nothing heavy stacked on top.
Questions we get asked
Can I pay for a whole year up front?+
You can, but there is no need — the monthly rate is the same either way and month to month keeps your options open.
What if I come back early?+
Give us a month’s notice whenever you like and you only pay for the days you use.
How do I know it is still safe?+
Gated yards, recorded CCTV around the clock, and a gate code we change every month so nobody who has left can get back in.
Something not covered? Ring the yard on 020 4597 5633. Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm.
Containers free at all three yards.
Woolwich, Charlton and Chessington. Move in today, 24 hour access, one month's notice whenever you are ready to go.
