Common questions
The things people ask us most.
If your question is not here, ring the yard on 020 4597 5633. We would rather answer it than have you guess.

Getting started
How quickly can I move in?+
Usually the same day. If a container is free you can sign, fit your padlock and start loading within the hour. Reserving online holds a container for seven days at no cost and with no card details.
Do I need to pay a deposit?+
No deposit and no admin fee. You pay the first month when you move in, and monthly after that.
What do I need to bring?+
Photo ID and your own padlock. We sell padlocks on site if you would rather buy one here.
Can I see a container before I book?+
Yes. Come to any yard during office hours and we will show you both sizes so you can judge the space yourself.
Access and security
When can I get to my container?+
Container access is 24 hours a day, every day. The office and phone are staffed Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm.
How does the gate code work?+
Each yard has an access code that everyone on site uses. We change it every month and email the new one to every current customer, which is how the yard stays shut to people who have moved out. Your current code is always in your online account.
Who else can open my container?+
Nobody. You fit your own padlock and keep the only key. Our staff cannot open it, and we do not hold a spare.
What security is there?+
Gated yards, recorded CCTV around the clock, and an access code that we change every month so anyone who has left cannot get back in.
Can someone else collect on my behalf?+
Yes, but tell us first and give them the access code. We cannot let an unknown person into the yard on your word over the phone.
What you can store
What can I not store?+
Nothing living, nothing perishable, and nothing hazardous — no fuel, gas bottles, paint, chemicals, fireworks, firearms or anything illegal. If you are unsure, ring and ask before you load.
Can I store a car or a van?+
Yes. A 20ft container takes most cars and small vans. Drain nothing and leave the keys with you — we do not move vehicles.
Will my things stay dry?+
These are purpose-built steel shipping containers, so they keep out rain and wind. For anything sensitive we would still suggest a cover and a pallet underneath.
Can I run a business from my container?+
You can store stock and collect from it as often as you like. What you cannot do is trade from the yard, hold appointments there, or use it as a registered business address.
Deliveries and help
Can you take in a delivery for me?+
Yes, if you book it in with us first. Tell us the courier and the day, and we will sign for it and put it in your container.
Is there a forklift?+
There is one at each yard, available Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Pallet deliveries are handled by our team at no extra charge.
Can you move my things for me?+
Our sister company Secure Removals can. Book the van and the container together and move-in day gets arranged for you.
Paying and leaving
How does payment work?+
Monthly, by Direct Debit or card. Invoices are due 30 days from the date of issue.
Is there a minimum stay?+
One month. After that you stay as long as you like.
How much notice do I give?+
Seven days. Tell us through your account or ring the yard, and you only pay for the days you use.
What if I pay late?+
We send reminders. If an account goes far enough past due we overlock the container, which means you cannot get in until it is settled. We would much rather talk to you than do that, so call us if money is tight.
Do you insure my things?+
Goods cover is available and most customers take it. Your own home contents policy sometimes extends to self-storage, so it is worth checking before you buy ours.
